About UsBookham Flood Forum was set up in 2013 to give residents a means of highlighting flooding problems in Bookham with the Drainage Authorities and discuss actions to rectify these. The Forum has representatives from Surrey County Council, Thames Water, Mole Valley District Council, the Environment Agency and Bookham Residents Association.
Since June 2015 the Bookham Flood Action Group, which was set up by the residents, has combined with the Bookham Flood Forum. We are now called the Bookham Flood Action Group. |
Why Bookham floods |
North Bookham is on London Clay which is impermeable and as a result surface water cannot soak away. Lower Road is on the spring line and is subject to major cyclical flooding at several locations. South Bookham is on porous chalk but still has several areas liable to flooding.

Main issue points |
One of the main areas that floods in Bookham is the East Street/Lower Road junction. Flooding here causes major problems in the centre of the village. Other notable areas are Dorking Road, Little Bookham and Eastwick Drive but several other areas are under investigation by the Flood Forum.
